The comedian Dave Gorman likes a good meme, as demonstrated by his Googlewhack Adventure, but spending an hour tweeting pun-laden domain names with some members of the Birmingham bloggers group (including BloggingBrum’s “own” Kevin Rapley) led me to wonder whether this friendly bearded lover of the PowerPoint presentation would actually ever manage to get any work done, what with the constant bleating of his numerous followers and followees.
I’ve recently had to stop using Flock at work because its various social networking features present too much of a distraction. The knowledge that my unread email count is only a click away or that I could be updating my Facebook status in a second is too much for a man like me, and I have to hunker down between my considerable shoulder blades and immerse myself in alpha-wave-rich music delivered through headphones burrowing deep into my earlobes.
